Ecological Tourism

Ecological Tourism, or Eco-Tourism, is a form of tourism that typically appeals to individuals who are ecologically and socially conscious. Eco-Tourism is popular in areas where the natural flora, natural fauna, and the cultural patrimony of an area are the traditional attractions.

There are separate types of Eco-Tourism. Responsible eco-tourism focuses on providing experiences for tourists that minimize the negative aspects of approved tourism on the environment. In addition, the sense is designed to heighten the cultural integrity of local populations. As a result, recycling, power efficiency, water conservation, and the creation of economic opportunities for the local society are integral parts of ecotourism. This emphasis is in addition to the estimate of environmental and cultural factors related with tourism.

As in all things, there is a governing body that provides standards for environmentally conscious tourism. The International Ecotourism society (Ties) is the body responsible for governing ecotourism. In 1990, Ties defined ecotourism and outlined the various ideas involved. Ecotourism, agreeing to Ties, is "responsible trip to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people."

Ecological Tourism

Places that wish to partake in and implement ecotourism are encouraged to comply with a range of principles. These include the desire to minimize the impact of tourism on the area; construction environmental and cultural awareness and respect; providing inescapable experiences for both the tourists and their hosts. In addition, Ties recommends that there be a direct financial advantage not only for the local habitancy but also for conservation efforts. The local habitancy are also improbable to be empowered. The final principle is to raise sensitivity to the host country's political, environmental, and collective climate.

In addition, ecotourism should satisfy added criteria. These added criteria include the conservation of both biological and cultural diversity, the promotion of sustainable use of biodiversity, and the shared socio-economic benefits with local communities and indigenous people.

In large cities over the world, an offshoot of the ecotourism movement is bicycle tours. These tours are designed to allow environmentally sensitive habitancy the capability to tour a city in an environmentally cordial way. The bicycles, because they are human powered, do not issue the same fumes as tour busses or boats. In addition, they allow the tour-taker much more free time over what is seen and what is not seen.

The countries successfully implementing ecotourism policies include Costa Rica, Ecuador, Nepal, Kenya, and Madagascar. For more information on bicycle tours as eco-tourism, please visit http://www.bike-locks.com.

Some of the beloved bike brands listed here can only be purchased at specialty bike shops or independent dealers. Although this marketing technique makes these brands harder to find, in some cases this it improves the perceived potential of the bikes over brands that are distributed to the mass market or that can be as a matter of fact found at sporting goods shop or even online.

I have included the bike types or bike categories that each constructor sells under the brand names listed. The bike type descriptions were, in most cases, taken directly from each bike manufacturers website in order to not only let you know what kind of bikes they make but also how the enterprise perceives the bike types that they make and how they market them to you.
